DIAMETERS OF ALL SUNDIAL WIRES
Please check that the diameter of each wire you order will
fit in the aperture for which it is intended.
The measurements in mm are more accurate than the measurements in inches.
Also, please do not choose solely based on what fits. Please make
sure the gauge you choose is appropriate for the electrical
draw of your device or fixture.
Please note that the parallel wire has two dimensions, height and width, since
its shape is rectangular rather than round.
Twisted wire is measured at its widest point.

DIAMETERS OF PLUG OPENINGS
This table lists the size of the openings where the wire is inserted in the plugs we sell.
Please note the rectangular plug has a rectangular opening, hence the two dimensions.
All the other plugs have round openings.
All of the button plug styles have the same diameter opening.

This is a
18-gauge wire in the
twisted pair
style where each
conductor is covered in
putty cotton braid.
One conductor has a tracer of brushed gold cotton.
Notes on the Color
The gold tracer thread which is
a subtle contrast with the putty, is not readily visible from a
distance. The putty is between tan and gray and is a wonderfully
neutral color.
This wire is made with the tracer in order to replicate the look
of wire used in the late 1800s and early 1900s, when
there was no PVC insulation under the wire to help differentiate
one conductor from the other during the wiring process.
If you are a long-time Sundial Wire customer, you might have
ordered this wire when we called it gray. We changed the
name to putty because
it more accurately describes the color.
Usage
This wire is suitable for table-top, floor, and pendant use and
suited to many applications, include wiring fans and small appliances.
You should consult a qualified electrician to ensure that the
gauge of the wire you select can safely support the electrical load of your lamp
or small appliance over the length of wire you are using.
