It looks like it might be in the pictures, but it is flat, like modern plastic wire but with a rayon braid.This cord is RAYON covered. Rayon gives the wire a silken sheen, similar to long extinct silk covered cords. This cord is 18-gauge, primarily intended for lamps or small appliances. Made in China. NOT UL Rated.
