Strain reliefs provide some relief of the strain of the wire from the weight of what is attached to it. We recommend using an Underwriter's Knot
to provide further strain relief. (See our how to wire a socket page.
Please note that only the collar type of strain relief fit over our 3-conductor pulley cord and our
3-conductor 16-gauge overbraid wire. Also, the collar strain reliefs are a bit too large to be effective with our
twisted pair wires, so it is important to match the strain relief to the wire.
The plastic screw-top strain reliefs are a very
tight fit over the 2-conductor pulley cord and Bungalow Cord (TM), but they will go on.
The metal screw-top strain reliefs only fit over our 2-conductor twisted pair wires.
